Plan Your Visit

The LST-325 calls Evansville, Indiana home and is open for tours with seasonal hours throughout the year. Every year in late summer she sails to visit various other ports. In 2020 her volunteer crew will take her to Charleston, WV; Ashland, KY; and Brandenburg, KY. See the EVENTS page for updates on Cruise as details become available.

We are a FULLY OPERATIONAL ship and all tours in Evansville are guided. Standard tours include the Main Deck, Troop Berthing, Tank Deck, Mess Deck, Galley, Stern of ship (Guns and Anchor), Wheel House, Officer's Country, and the Captain's Cabin. This tour includes up to 6 ladders (sets of stairs).

If your party would like to avoid ladders we offer a shorter Main Deck Tour (subject to guide availability) that consists of the History, Guns, the Stern of the ship (Guns and Anchor), and Officer's Country and Galley if possible (must be able to step over hatches).  We also try to make every tour special.  Please call ahead for all Main Deck tours.

You are allowed to ask questions and take pictures at any point during the tour. We recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes. Heels of any type are not advised. During the summer we recommend carrying water during the tour (available in the Gift Shop) due to the increased temperatures onboard ship. During the winter, bundle up for the weather.

Purchase tickets at the Gift Shop upon your arrival to the ship. Tours are roughly 60 minutes long and start on the hour with the last tour at 3:00 pm.

Please note that admissions prices for Evansville tours will be changing, effective October 1, 2019. For further details, please see the full announcement below.

Admissions Price Increase

Following lengthy deliberation by our Board of Directors, the USS LST Ship Memorial, Inc. will be raising tour admissions prices in Evansville effective 1 October, 2019.  The Adult [18+] Rate will increase to $15.00 and Youth [6-17] Rate will increase to $7.50.  We will continue to offer free admission to children 5 and under, veterans of World War II and the Korean War, active duty service members and first responders in uniform or with I.D., and Memorial members.

This decision was not taken lightly, but brings the Memorial more in line with other museum ships around the United States.  Admissions constitute the majority of our annual revenue, particularly while in home port.  After more than 15 years without a price increase, we found ourselves lagging far behind in this area and, consequently, overall operating funds.

The USS LST Ship Memorial is a 501c3 non-profit organization that owns, maintains, and operates the USS LST-325, the last operational World War II LST in her original configuration.  All proceeds from admissions support our mission: to provide fun, engaging, and educational tours of this wonderful piece of history while preserving her for future generations.  This price increase will allow us to better complete this mission by supporting local operations, facilities, and ship maintenance.  Along with guaranteeing adequate funding for restoration and conservation projects, the increased revenue will allow us to ensure we have sufficient staff for the anticipated increase in tours following our move downtown.

While admissions prices will increase on 1 October, 2019, our membership rates will remain unchanged.  A membership with the Memorial costs as little as $20 per year, and all active members receive free tours of the 325, our newsletter, and a discount in our Gift Shop.  In addition, any active member of the Memorial can receive free admission to a large number of other museum ships and memorials as part of the Historic Naval Ships Association’s Individual Member Admission Exchange program with their membership card.

Coast Guard Restricted Items

Please note that as an operational vessel, we are required to follow coast guard regulations on banned materials and items. These restrictions will be enforced for all tours and visits.

Where to Find Us

The USS LST 325 is located just off Waterworks Road just east of downtown Evansville, Indiana 11 months out of the year. During the months of August and September the ship sails to other port cities to share a piece of our nation's history and to educate the public about LSTs and the men who served on them.
